HCMGA Handicapping Adjustments
1. All individual events are played at full handicaps.
2. All MGA
four man team events, that count two or more balls, will be played at ninety
percent (90%) of full handicap.
3. All MGA four
man team events, that count only one ball, will be played at eighty percent
(80%) of full handicap.
4. All MGA
two man team, better ball events, will be played at ninety percent (90%) of
full handicap unless there is more than an eight point difference in handicap
after the 90% has been taken. In the
event that the difference is more than 8, another 10% will be deducted from
both members’ handicaps.
5. In team
alternate shot match play, the handicap for the higher-handicapped team is 50
percent of the difference between the combined course
handicap of each team. (When selected drives
are permitted, the allowance is 40 percent.) The lower handicapped team
competes at scratch.
6. In alternate shot stroke play, the
handicap is 50 percent of the combined handicaps of the two players. (When selected drives are permitted, the
allowance is 40 percent.)
7. For
Scrambles we will use the following table:
4
Person 2 Person
A
Player 20% 35%
B
Player 15% 15%
C
Player 10% Use 1/2 of total if the play is only
D Player 5% nine holes.
8. In all weekly and tournament play, there will be a score recorded per hole on the
card for each player. If a player’s
score for any hole is left blank, the
team will be unable to use any of that player’s scores for the whole round.
9. If a member picks up on a hole, the
score recorded for the hole is to be the most likely score the player would
have made if the ball had been holed out, not to exceed the Equitable Stroke
Control (ESC) stroke limit. The score
should be marked with an ‘X’ to signify the player picked up without finishing
the hole. (USGA Handicaps Manual Section 4-1)

10. In all
weekly play, the person on the top of the score card will adjust any hole exceeding the player’s
ESC maximum and post ALL of the
scores for the team on that day. This
does NOT exempt the player from responsibility of seeing that his score is
posted.
11. The Pro
Shop will post all tournament scores as T scores except for special
circumstances (i.e. second day of the Macho Tango).
